Our story
About The Queen Elizabeth
From the former Wildfowler to a Nepalese-led community pub on Gayton Road in Gaywood, beside Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

From The Wildfowler
A Gaywood local, reopened and reimagined
The Queen Elizabeth is the pub Gaywood knew for years as The Wildfowler. In 2025, following a £100,000 refurbishment, it reopened as The Queen Elizabeth — a welcoming community pub on Gayton Road, right beside Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn, with a Nepalese-led kitchen at its heart.
The £100,000 relaunch of the former Wildfowler, which created five new jobs, was reported by the local press in June 2025.
The refresh kept what makes a proper local work — a real bar, a large beer garden and free on-site parking — while bringing a Nepalese-led kitchen into the heart of the pub. The result is a place where you can settle in for a pint and the match, or share momo and Himalayan curries at the same table as the British pub classics.
The Queen Elizabeth is part of Lapen Inns, the hospitality team who reopened it as a genuine local for Gaywood, hospital visitors and staff, and the wider King's Lynn community.
Kitchen and community
A Nepalese kitchen in a pub everyone can call their own
Two things sit side by side here: a Nepalese-led kitchen and the comfort of a familiar local. You will find momo, sekuwa and Himalayan curries alongside burgers, fish and chips and a kids' menu — so groups and families never have to choose between them.
Being beside Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the pub is an easy stop for visitors, staff and locals alike — with live Sky and TNT Sports on multiple HD screens, the garden for warmer days, and free parking for guests (please don't use hospital parking for a pub visit).

Who runs The Queen Elizabeth
A Nepalese-led pub group, with people behind it
Subodh Gautam is a director of Lapen Inns, the East Anglia operator of community pubs serving Nepalese cuisine alongside British pub classics. He and his partners, Ravi Acharya and Purna Man Bajracharya, began running pubs in 2021 with the Star Pubs lease for The Railway in Whittlesey, and have grown the group across the region since. The Queen Elizabeth is part of that family.
“I came to England in 2009 as a student and worked in a Birmingham pub that offered Nepalese dining.”
